CEU Requirements (Login or Sign Up for further information.)
In 2006, the IBE Board of Directors re-evaluated the long-standing IBE policy for
Continuing Education Units (CEU). Recognizing the importance that our Certified members
be current in their education, the following policies were further defined:
Required number of CEUs per two-year period: 40 hrs.
These shall be divided within the three major Bau-Biologie disciplines (Healthy Building,
Indoor Environment, and Electromagnetics); however, at least 8 hours must be spent in each
discipline over a 4-year period.
All CEU credits are based on a calendar year -- with the year of certification the starting
year, regardless of what month you completed your certification.
One CEU equals one classroom or lab hour.
A grace period of 2-years for existing BBEI/BBEC, granted by the IBE Board in 2006,
will end in December 2008.
Ways to get CEU credits:
Attendance at the IBE Conference constitutes 16 hours that can be used in any of the disciplines
Attendance at IBE seminars - CEU credits and subject disciplines vary. For specific CEU credits for each of the IBE seminars, see the relevant course/seminar page.
Completion of an On-line course (if not previously done) - 16 hours maximum in the appropriate discipline
Update your seminar material and then write the take-at-home exam associated with the new material. (24 CEUs for IAQ or 24 CEUs for EMR)
Attendance at a seminar conducted by a Registered IBE/CEU Provider.
Attendance at a seminar conducted by a non-Registered IBE/CEU Provider covering related material. An application and small administrative fee for material review is required for this method.
See below for all of the details and application.
